Ropiko Beach Resort

Located 2 hours long boat ride from Seghe at the Southern end of Marovo lagoon on facing the Coral Sea, Ropiko was originally set up by the Piko family in 1994 as Ropiko Eco Lodge. The accommodation buildings are right on the oceans doorstep, all rooms have private amenities and fans making for a perfect nights sleep as well as safes available for peace of mind while out and about.

Whether you’re here to relax or explore Ropiko can cater to everyone. Activities include world famous diving and snorkeling, walks to the local village (and up Gatokae’s mountains if your keen), World War II site visits, whale watching, visiting an underwater volcano and canoeing or if that’s all to much you can simply relax on the beach. Note on Saturday water activities are not available due to religious beliefs.

Using home grown organic vegetables, fruits and fresh fish, one of our delights is the food. Our cooks will prepare wholesome dishes, cooked in local styles with a western flavor. All prices include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Saturday is a day of sabbath, breakfast and lunch ingredients will be supplied for you to do your own meal.

Environmental sustainability and community support are at the center of our business. We take pride in doing everything we can to support local ecosystems and give back to the villages surrounding the resort while allowing them to preserve local cultures.

Scattered through Gatokae Island are a number of World War 2 artefacts. Sites include the Japanese plane that crashed in 1944 and lies intact in the resort gardens and 4 intact boats that sank in Welkom Harbour.

UNDERWATER VOLCANO VISIT

Experience something completely different. Take a two hour boat ride out to Kavachi underwater volcano and see it explode out of the water.
