The ski lodge has nine well equipped rooms that are spread over two floors and are available for double or triple occupancy. Every room has been tastefully furnished and some include a balcony or ensuite bathroom.

Completely designed for your comfort, the lodge has a number of relaxation areas including a purpose built living room with flat screen TV, ping pong table, darts board and plush new sofas.

Madarao has long been a popular choice for generations of Japanese and is rapidly becoming a destination for western travellers due to the opening of the new Shinkansen bullet train last year, taking skiers direct from Tokyo central to the resort in approx 100 minutes. This is pure testament to the fact that the Kuma Lodge is the best rated accommodation in Madarao on TripAdvisor.

Let’s help make your stay at Kuma worth your while.

MADARAO MOUNTAIN RESORT

Mt. Madarao stands 1382 meters tall and has 30 separate trails. There are 15 lifts and the ski area features a unique bowl-shape. Previous to the host to Japan’s first Freestyle Skiing Competition, there are many unique runs to choose from. Madarao can be enjoyed by everyone from first timers to advanced skiers.

With 60% of the tails ungroomed, there is a good chance you’ll be able to enjoy the fluffy, deep powder the area is famous for. Many Japanese skiers prefer to keep to the groomed trails, so there isn’t a lot of competition when it comes to making fresh powder tracks.

Madarao has a double ski pass which includes Tangram Ski Circus, the slopes afford picturesque views of the surrounding area including Lake Nojiri and Mt. Myoko. Guests may also take day trips to explore surrounding resorts like Nozawa Onsen and Myoko Kogen.
