Location

Located in the Nono Lagoon, itself part of the famed Marovo Lagoon in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, is Nggatirana Island. This 15 Ha private island is home to the dream getaway of Evis Resort, the only buildings on the island.  The Island is a naturally forested conservation area with a round the island nature trail. The lagoon side has sandy beaches that give access to a superb 400m long coral reef, home to myriad of marine life, whilst the weather side is protected by an ancient reef.

We are located close to Vangunu Island, with access to premium scuba dive locations Penguin Reef, Rapichana Point and Hele Bar, plus a host of other exciting snorkel sites including the famous Soltai 61 wreck.   On Vangunu is Gerbera’s village Zaira, one of the most remote places on earth and designated conservation area.  It’s a beautiful area, and the island overlooks several extinct volcanoes and many small lagoon islands.

We are just 25 minutes from Seghe airfield by our 40hp boat.

Activities

Here at Evis Resort we offer our guests a wide range of activities. We are lucky to be surrounded by beautiful coral reefs; we offer all guests free access to snorkelling gear to be able to experience all its beauty.

For more serious divers we will be offering diving excursions from $70 per dive (check with GoTours about start date of dive Shop).  Guests also have free access to our kayak to explore the further edges of our island home.

If water is not your thing, then at an extra cost we have many short and longer treks on the nearby Island of Vangunu that will give you both a cultural and historic perspective to the area.  On Nggatirana island we even have our own Tabu site; the volcanic origins of the island; this pile of volcanic rock is massive and has special cultural significance in the area. On top of the tabu mound is a small tabernacle that was added in 1909 and in which whales’ teeth and later traditional shell money was offered to the fertility god. The Pandanus bush walk around the island is amazing with a prehistoric feel, bird life and wild orchids.

We also offer cultural visits to Mbopo and Zaira, which hosts a turtle hatching program.  We work very closely with nearby Mbopo and the adjoining schools at Halisi and a visit there will show you what the real Solomons is all about.
