Zipolo Habu Resort is nestled within a perfect blue lagoon and fringed by white sands and tall green palms. Located on Lola Island, in the beautiful Vona Vona Lagoon, just a thirty minute boat ride from Munda; Lola truly reflects a quintessential island paradise. The resort is the result of many years of hard work by owners Joe and Lisa Entrikin who, along with their children, designed a place for those keen to enjoy a true island living experience. Whilst they are known for their specialty in sports fishing in the lagoon or beyond the reef, they can also arrange diving, surfing or tours to many outstanding sites all close by.

Zipolo offer a wide range of accommodation options to suit a variety of budgets and group sizes, its bar is known for serving the coldest beer in the Western Province and their restaurant prides itself on their fresh seafood and unique use of local produce.

Accommodation

Constructed using traditional Vona Vona building materials of Sago Palm Leaf, Lawyer Cane and Wild Betel Nut Tree, Zipolo’s bungalows provide an authentic island living experience, whilst not compromising the comforts of home. All bungalows have 240 volt power, fans and a kitchenette equipped with gas stove, refrigerator/freezer and cooking utensils. Fresh rain water is provided, along with tea and coffee making facilities.

Whilst mosquito nets are provided in each bedroom, they are seldom needed.

Waterfront Deluxe Bungalows have ensuite bathrooms, whilst traditional and semi-deluxe utilise shared facilities conveniently located behind the bungalows amongst flowering orchids and frangipani. All bathrooms are fitted with hot water systems – brilliant for a warm shower after a day diving, fishing or surfing.

Traditional Bungalows

The traditional bungalows utilise local design and allow you to experience a typical village style house. Sago Palm shutters can be opened out to let the breeze through or lowered during any moments of rain. Large airy balconies allow you to relax with a view over our gardens and out to the lagoon. Whilst the building is traditional, 240v power is available from 11am until 11pm and each bungalow has a kitchenette with bar fridge and drinking water.

Semi-Deluxe Bungalows

For those seeking a touch more comfort, Zipolo’s Semi-Deluxe Bungalows provide a little more attention to detail. Installed with 24 hour lighting and fans and fitted with beautiful hand woven walling and louvre windows, the semi-deluxe bungalows are comfortable and well appointed.

Deluxe Bungalows

The two deluxe bungalows offer a premium level of comfort, privacy and style. Absolute waterfront positioning provides panoramic views across Vona Vona Lagoon to the dormant Kolombangara volcano in the distance. Each bungalow incorporates an ensuite bathroom with hot water showers, well equipped kitchen and furnished balconies. A battery back-up provides 24 hour power for fans and lighting at any time of day or night.

Bar and Dining

Zipolo Habu dining is based on the freshest ingredients the region has to offer. They love to provide international food, infused with local flavors through local cooking techniques. Obviously, seafood is their absolute specialty – whether it be barbecued crayfish, cuttlefish soup, chili mud crab or sashimi tuna. Often, Zipolo’s local fishermen catch it and it’s on the table within hours. They also love to prepare your own catch of the day to your liking as we all know that what we catch ourselves always tastes the best.

Alternatively, as they provide basic kitchenette facilities in rooms, you can prepare your own simple meals if you prefer. As local markets can be unpredictable, they advise you to bring vegetables from either the Honiara or Gizo markets, and catch or purchase from Zipolo’s plentiful supply of seafood readily available at Lola Island.

Waterfront Cafe

At the end of the day, the waterfront cafe is a great place to kick back and soak up the atmosphere. Catch your favorite sporting match on the satellite television, enjoy a cold drink and a snack or just watch the sun set over the lagoon.

Fully Licensed Bar

The Fishing Bar is fully licensed, and open throughout the day and into the evening. It’s a great place to unwind after a big day exploring the region with a cold drink and a local story from the bartender.

They serve crisp cold local beer, imported wine, a full range of soft drinks, and an extensive listing of spirits. From time to time, they’re also known to pull together a brilliant cocktail.

The Bar includes Rod Holders along with your Stubby Holders!

Like a cold drink whilst fishing? We understand that fishing can be thirsty work so we’re also happy to arrange an esky with some cold drinks for your day out on the water.

Surfing

Although the Skull Island can be fickle, when there's swell it is one on the Solomon's best waves and you are guaranteed no crowds.

The best time is between November through to March however there are quality breaks throughout the year. The lows that form in the coral sea during this time usually developed below the Solomon's and drop down towards Vanuatu, these lows push up from really deep water in a south eastly direction.

Zipolo’s resort break – ‘Skull Island’, which is almost paddling distance, is an extremely long, right hand break over deep coral reef; nice and safe. When it’s breaking, it’s usually very clean. There's also Despretes about 20 mins boat ride away, Mbirimbiri and Lavata Island or try a day trip to Rendova Island and find that secret spot.

A range of boards are available for hire from the resort at modest rates.

Surf charters start from $30 per hours plus fuel for 2 and an additional $5 per person.
