We are very experienced in our terrains and we know how to make your visit with us comfortable and memorable. Some of the sites that you will see have never been  photographed so,  you may be the first to shoot on them

Lake Tegano World Heitage Site was enlisted since 1998 and it is the only WHS in this sub-region outside of Australia and New Zealand. The other two WHS namely Easter Island and Henderson Island are under Chile and U.K. respectively.East Rennell WHS is under the Solomon Islands and is in the Rennell and Bellona Province, south of Guadalcanal.

Distance from Tigoa airstrip to Labagu by road is about 30km and Labagu to Lake Headroad is 17 km

1. TIGOA AIRSTRIP(DAY1)

Tigoa airstrip is at the provincial capital Tupuaki. The 57 mins. flights to Rennell Island from Honiara (Henderson Airport) are on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the mornings around 6am. Arrival to Tigoa Airstrip will start your tour on the island with a Rennellese tu’u maige( perfume leaf necklace) welcome then followed by refreshments, entertainments, then a road transfer on a 4WD.

2. KANABA STOPOVER(DAY1)

10 to 20 min. (refreshments, site seeing, photographing), then the road cruise continues.Kanaba Village is right in the heart of Usohenua green rain forests.

Note that the forests on Rennell Island is very different in terms of the kinds of trees one sees in the rest of the Solomon Islands. The trees you commonly see in our forests are rarely seen in forests of Guadalcanal, for example. Take some photos and prove it.

Modern toilet and bath facilities are available at Kanaba stop over.

3. LABAGU STOPOVER(DAY1)

This is where the road transfer ends.

A 2 to 3 hrs. (refreshments, lunch, site seeing, photographing), then a visit to the labagu bat cave then followed by a short coastal boat transfer to Kagaba beach.

Modern toilet and bath facilities are available. Labagu Beach is the seaport on Rennell island and is in Lughu Bay. Lughu bay is the gateway to East Rennell(Lake Tegano) World Heritage Site.

4. KAGABA BEACH(DAY1)

Visits to Mataagaba Dolphin pool & Mataagaba Culture temple.

Diving and snorkeling crystal clear seas, Kayaking , Dolphin watch.

Spend the Day1 overnight camping or lodge at Kagaba Beach lodge, (meals inclusive).Dinner and breakfast are done the Rennellese style( fresh seafoods). Modern toilet and bath facility available. 

5. TUHUGAGO BEACH(DAY2)

The next morning(Day2), a cruising coastal boat ride to Tuhugago Beach. (Refreshments served on the beach), with tour guides from Niupani awaits to welcome you. 

Snorkeling, Reef Diving and dive a WWII PBY catalina plane wreckage under sea at Tuhugago). Visit Kagipuli (Bat Cave)

 Climb the steps of Tuhugago and take some photographs (Tuhugago cliftop lookout view is one of the best site to photogragh the coastal beauty and the lake Tegano with one shot),then bush trek and bird watch ( 1to 2 hrs.) to Niupani Village through the green forest.

Tour guides and carriers will help you on the way. They are also experts with our terrains, so you will be in safe hands.

In the future a hot air balloon lift up and over the cliffs then descending to Lake Tegano will be a must for this tour. 

6. NIUPANI VILLAGE(DAY2)

Upon arriving at Niupani Village, refreshments and lunch are served. Then in the afternoon of day2: Entertainments, Internet café, kayaking, snorkeling , canoe building, (Hetakai) wrestling, basket weaving, traditional fire making and ‘umu hatu(stone oven), traditional house building, traditional soil cultivation demonstrations are displayed.

Stay the night at Niupani Village (east rennell homestay or henuagoto lodge(meals inclusive)

The next morning of (day3) you take either, shrikebill or Fantail lake tour with lunch and refreshments served in the ha’ugua double haul canoe, then you will return after lunch and prepare for the short lake boat transfer to Headroad.

RENNELL SHRIKEBILL LAKE TOUR (The Rennell Shrikebill (Clytorhynchus hamlini) is a songbird species in the family Monarchidae. It is endemic to Rennell Island in Rennell and Bellona Province in Solomon Islands).

RENNELL FANTAIL LAKE TOUR (The Rennell Fantail (Rhipidura rennelliana) is a species of bird in the Rhipiduridae family. It is endemic to Rennell Island, in Rennell and Bellona Province , in the Solomon Islands).

7. HEADROAD(DAY3)

A short lake boat transfer from Niupani to the headroad in the afternoon of day3. Farewell with free Rennellese Basket gifts and a return road transfer to the airstrip on a 4WD . Stop-Overs: Tesauma, Labagu, Matangi, Teasuma, Kanaba, & Tahaanuku.

And you spend your Day3 night at Nukuma’anu Resthouse at Tigoa airstrip(meals inclusive), with the flight back to Honiara on the next morning Day4.

CHICAGO PACKAGE

(Named after the WWII USS CHICAGO CA-29 WARSHIP that was sunk by the Japanese just north of Rennell Island, during WWII.)

1. TIGOA AIRSTRIP(DAY1)

2. NUKUMAGU’IHO STOPOVER(DAY1)

30mins. (refreshments & photographing). Then from here, a coastal boat transfer and cruise along the northern shores of Rennell Island starts.

Modern toilet and bath facility installed.This is a new logging seaport on the northern Rennell Island, in Kanaba Area.

Here, you see Rennell Island northshores with some scene you will not see elsewhere.

 

 

3. MATA’ASO / MANUPISU(DAY1)

2 to 3 hrs. Rrefreshments, lunch (fresh seafoods served in rennellese style), and photographing, then continuation of the boat cruise.

Mata’aso Beach was the Sa’a Kaitu’u tabu site where the sacred double haul canoe was (the HA’UGUA), used by chief priest to worship old gods.

IIts corals and the seas are very clean.

Modern toilet and bath facilities are available on Mata’aso beach.

4. TUHU / TEMANU’ATEA(DAY1)

20mins. (photographing), then continuation of the boat cruise.

Tuhu is the only obvious coastal cave outlet of Lake Tegano to the ocean. This site is where you can see fish, awaiting dedri and wastes coming out from the tuhu to feed on. Beautiful photoshots with its cliffs.

Temanu’atea is the special bird nesting site where small holes on the cliffs are the homes to sea birds, where you can see their little heads out from their homes, looking straight into the ocean and at you. Beautiful site for photographing

5. KAGOBI(DAY1)

20 min. (photographing), then the coastal cruise continues.

This culture tabu site was believed to be the home to all our ancestors who left this earth. When one passes away from earth (ie. Rennell Island), his or her sole goes to Kagobi, like heaven, in the Christianity belief.

6. AHANGA(DAY1) This is the end of the coastal cruise.

Ahanga coral is at the eastern tip end of Rennell Island, and it was the track by which ancestor Kaitu’u, bush trekked up to the lake, when they arrive from Ubea (Wallis & Futuna), This is the shortest track to the lake tegano from the coast.

So, come and experience what Kaitu’u saw when he reached the lake side ( Tigoa and Kagibi lake harbor)- beautiful scene.

7. TIGOA POINT(DAY1)

Day1 overnight camp at Tigoa Point (this was the site where the US set up a small look out station during WWII) at the eastern end of lake tegano.

Rennellese style camp huts & fresh local Rennellese foods served for dinner and breakfast).

Modern toilet and bath facility installed. In this Chicago Package, you will enjoy our

RENNELL WHITE EYE LAKE TOUR. (The `Rennell White-eye` (`Zosterops rennellianus`) is a species of bird in the Zosteropidae family. It is endemic to Rennell Island, in Rennell and Bellona Province, in the Solomon Islands).

Our lake tours are done on a cruising traditional double haul canoe (Ha’ugua ), powered by OBM engines.

On the next morning, Day 2, the Rennell white eye lake tour starts. Visiting all the special sites of the eastern end of lake tegano (kagibi). Lunch is served on the Ha’ugua double haul canoe. This lake tour returns to the western end where Niupani Village is , via the northern lake side.

Then Rennell White Eye Lake Tour ends at Niupani Village where you spend the Day2 night.

8. NIUPANI VILLAGE(DAY2)

Day 2 overnight stay at East Rennell Homestay at Niupani or Henuagoto Lodge next to Niupani village (all meals inclusive in rennellese style).

On the morning(day3) at Niupani Village: entertainments, Internet café, kayaking, canoe building, (Hetakai) wrestling, basket weaving, traditional fire making and ‘umu hatu(stone oven), traditional house building, traditional soil cultivation demonstrations are displayed.

9. HEADROAD(DAY3)

A short lake boat transfer from Niupani to the headroad in the afternoon of day3.

Then head back to tigoa airstrip by road in the afternoon of Day3. Farewell with free Rennellese Baskets gifts and head back to the airstrip via road on a 4WD .

Stop-Overs: Tesauma, Labagu, Matangi, Teasuma, Kanaba, & Tahaanuku.

And you stay the Day3 night at Eight Points Accomodation at Tigoa airstrip(meals inclusive), with the flight back to Honiara on the next morning Day4.

RENNELL SEA KRAIT PACKAGE

Named after the Rennell Island sea krait, (Laticauda crockery), is a small, venomous sea snake found only in the brackish waters of Lake Tegano , on Rennell Island, Rennell and Bellona Province, in the Solomon Islands.

1. TIGOA AIRSTRIP(DAY1)

Tigoa airstrip is at the provincial capital Tupuaki. The 57mins. flights to Rennell Island from Honiara (Henderson Airport), are on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the mornings around 6am. Arrival to Tigoa Airstrip will start your tour on the island with a Rennellese tu’u maige( perfume leaf necklace) welcome, then followed with refreshments, entertainments, then a road transfer on a 4WD. 

2. LUGHUGHI BAY STOPOVER(DAY1)

20mins. (refreshments & photographing). Then from here, a coastal boat transfer takes you to Tuhugago beach cruising along the southern shores of Rennell Island.

Lughughi bay was an old seaport built by the (Japanese) Mitsui Mining in the 1970s.It has beautiful scene to photogragh from the clifftop over the harbor. From lughughi the boat transfer stops over at Tuhugago beach

 

3. TUHUGAGO BEACH STOPOVER(DAY1)

2Hours: Refreshments, lunch (fresh rennellese food), and photographing then continuation of the coastal boat cruise to Nukuma’anu beach.

Climb the Tuhugago steps and take some photos from the clifftop look out view.Modern toilet and bath facilities on the beach. 

4. NUKUMA’ANU BEACH(DAY1)

Day1 overnight camp ( close to the home of Tangagoa(Toho), our sky hero).Rennellese style camp huts, with modern toilet and bath facility installed. Dinner and breakfast are served in Rennellese style (fresh seafood)Swimming, snorkeling, enjoy the white sandy beach.Then in the next morning of day2, the continuation of the coastal boat cruise to ahanga. 

5. AHANGA(DAY2)

The coastal boat cruise ends at Ahanga and then you bush trek up the ahanga track to Tigoa point. (this is the shortest track to the lake from the coast). You will be welcomed by our forest birds. Do not forget your camera. Refreshments are served at Tigoa Point upon reaching the lake side. Modern toilet and bath facilities are available at Ahanga and Tigoa Point. 

6. TAUTIAGE POINT(DAY2)

From Tigoa point to Tautiage Point on the Ha’ugua double haul canoe starts the Rennell Starling lake tour.Our lake tours are done on a cruising traditional double haul canoe (Ha’ugua ), powered by OBM engines.In this RENNELL SEA KRAIT PACKAGE , you will enjoy our RENNELL STARLING LAKE TOUR (The Rennell Starling (Aplonis insularis) is a species of starling Bird in the Sturnidae family. It is endemic to Rennell Island, in Rennell and Bellona Province, in the Solomon Islands) The Rennell Starling lake tour return to the western end of lake Tegano via the southern side and it ends at Niupani Village where you spend the night (day 2). 

7. NIUPANI VILLAGE(DAY2)

Overnight stay at East Rennell Homestay at Niupani or Henuagoto Lodge next to Niupani village with meals inclusive, and served in rennellese style.Modern toilet and bath facilities available.On the next morning(day3) at Niupani Village: entertainments, Internet café, kayaking, canoe building, (Hetakai) wrestling, basket weaving, traditional fire making and ‘umu hatu(stone oven), traditional house building, traditional soil cultivation demonstrations are displayed.

8. HEADROAD(DAY3)

A short lake boat transfer from Niupani to the headroad in the afternoon of day3.Farewell with free Rennellese Basket gifts and head back to the airstrip via road on a 4WD Stop-Overs: Tesauma, Labagu, Matangi, Teasuma, Kanaba, & Tahaanuku.Modern toilet and bath facilities installed.

And you spend your Day3 final night at Moreno Resthouse at the airstrip western end(dinner and breakfast inclusive), with your flight back to Honiara on the next morning Day4.
