The Solomon Islands are an archipelago of 992 tropical islands and atolls, they comprise two major parallel island chains extending some 1800 kilometres from the Shortland Islands in the west near PNG to Tikopia and Anuta in the east.
Situated in the South Pacific between Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, the population of about 560,000 is predominantly Melanesian but includes other smaller groups. Exotic local customs and traditions remain a very important part of life for Solomon Islanders A hundred local languages and a population living largely a subsistence lifestyle on their ancestral lands.. The islands and waters are still a little known pristine paradise. The Solomon Islands are part of the Coral Triangle which has the highest marine biodiversity in the world., containing thousands of different plant and animal species, especially the marine life. Your tour guide will collect you from your hotel or rest house and travel east, past Henderson Airfield over Alligator Creek through Tenaru Village to the spot that you will begin the walk to the Waterfall. The local guide and custom land owner will point out many interesting points of interest and wildlife along the half an hour walk to the beautiful waterfalls were you can swim and enjoy the picturesque landscape. If you are willing to adventure further, you can walk another 30 minutes to a cave with Bats and custom drawings. This adventure is a must on Guadalcanal.

You will be collected from your hotel, This guided tour starts in Lelei Village at Tuvaruhu. After crossing the Matanikau River you will hike uphill to the top of Galloping Horse Hills, which is featured in the movie “The Thin Red Line”.
The hike takes approx. 1 ½ to 2 hours to the waterfall depending on how fit you are. You then follow the length of river back down. Be ready to get wet and have a good pair of hiking shoes. Bring plenty of water. 
Please note you need to be fit to do this hike.

The Ofis

The Ofis is an island style cafe/restaurant located on the sea side of Honiara. With a wood fired oven for pizzas, an outdoor dining area, and all day breakfast, lunch and dinner this place has some of the best food in Honiara.

Located on the sea front a 20-minute drive from the international airport and a 5 minute drive from town and beaches The Ofis is out of the hustle of the main city. Providing three comfortable rooms each with a ceiling fan, fridge with complimentary water and tea and coffee making facilities, fresh fruit on arrival, and en suite bathroom (all linen and towels are provided), this basic bungalow accommodation is in a natural setting.
