Matikuri Lodge

The magic of Matikuri Lodge has touched guests for nearly 20 years. Situated on Matikuri Island in the Marovo Lagoon, guests are introduced to Solomon life by Ben and his family. Matikuri is a well established property with separate spacious bungalows for guests all built from local materials. Large decks get sun all day right above the sea. We are set on a small island in the Marovo Lagoon fringed with mangroves and a sandy beach on the north side.

Matikuri Lodge provides spaciousness, privacy, shade, peace and quiet, a sea breeze, home cooking, good snorkelling and excellent kayaking. The Lodge can only be reached by boat ensuring its peace and solitude, and has beautiful views over many islands. A generator means that the communal area has electric lights and phones, and cameras and laptops can be charged.

Each rustic waterfront bungalow made from local materials from the forest, has total privacy and offers everyone a small piece of nature with its views, sounds, and serenity. The Bungalows are traditionally built and surrounded by native trees to ensure shade and privacy.

There are rooms for families, couples, groups of friends or single travellers and all beds have mosquito nets. Guests can self cater or have meals served in the main leaf house and come together to watch life go by on the lagoon at the end of the day. A large communal area also set above the sea provides a welcoming and relaxing space where guest can meet other travellers or chat to Benjamin and Jilly and their family.
