Falls Creek

Fresh Blanket of Snow Enhances Snow Depths
at the Winter Playground of Falls Creek

The low pressure system, which has covered the alps with a fresh blanket of snow, has enhanced the exisiting snow depths at winter playgrounds such as Falls Creek

Heavy snow started falling this morning and wintery weather is forecast to continue until Friday.

Which will ensure a season which began with very good snowfalls will continue until its official close in early October

SKI AREAS

There are four main ski areas in Falls Creek:

1. The Village Bowl - The skiing in the Village Bowl provides some of the most challenging advanced skiing in Australia. There are long bump runs, steep groomed runs and cornices to jump off. As well there are gentle sheltered beginner areas at the base.
The base of the bowl also caters for the first time skier and children, with gentle beginner runs and more shelter.
Night skiing is also held in this area on Tuesday and Saturday nights from 7.00 - 9.00pm.

2. The Maze Area - Fast narrow tree skiing, great bump runs and three kilometre runs in amongst the snowgums. The terrain is steep and adventurous with spectacular views across the Bogong High Plains. 1998 sees this area with snow making guns to top up the natural deep snow falls.

3. Sun Valley - There are many runs in the Sun Valley Area providing beginner, intermediate and advanced skiing. Wombats Ramble is the longest beginner run in Australia, being 2.2 kilometres long, with wide open spaces to ski and more tree skiing for all standards. The majority of ski runs in this area are Intermediate, with Snowboard Park an added bonus for snowboard enthusiasts. New this year in Sun Valley are public facilities at the base of Twin Towers T-Bar lifts.

Boarder4. Snowboard Terrain Park - For bumps and spills try the park in South Gully, on the Summit. As well as plenty of excitement, it offers a halfpipe and a series of obstacles that are reset throughout the season.
