Broome and the Kimberleys
The Kimberleys are one of Australia's most fascinating regions
Bungle Bungle
The Bungle Bungle massif was created at the same time as most of the Kimberley scenery, around 350 million years ago.
A scenic flight is the best way to gain a perspective of its massive size. In fact twice as many people see the massif by air than those who visit by road. However, the venture in by 4WD is well worth the effort.
Eco Beach ... 'Wilderness Retreat'
Escape to one of the world's most remote holiday destinations.
130 kilometre's by road south from Broome on the rugged nor' west coast of Western Australia, Eco Beach feels completely removed from civilisation.
Prepare to be as surprised and excited as the first explorers like Dampier, who in 1699 wrote eloquently in his journals about this ancient and unique location.
Become one of the privileged few to experience the place where the Australian outback, ancestral area of the Yawurra people meets the vast Indian Ocean.
The beautiful simplicity of this place will awaken a part of your awareness rarely used in every day life. After a few days here you won't want to go home ... but you can always come back.
Awaken each morning to an orchestra of bird calls and sweeping views over Roebuck Bay. Your timber chalet is positioned to take full advantage of prevailing breezes and offers unobstructed viewing of the natural bush surroundings.
Raised timber walkways protect the fragile dune environment, so you will see native flora and fauna throughout this wilderness retreat.
You will not enjoy the five star luxuries of phone, air conditioning or your own bar fridge, but you will revel in the proximity of nature, the cooling breezes and the joy of your own bush shower in the great outdoors.
Besides, what do five stars mean when a million stars twinkle overhead on balmy Kimberley nights while you stroll on the beach or float in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean?
Lack of electronic devices creates a space in which guests are literally forced to unwind and reinvent the art of intimate communication which is oft-times lost in our modern world.
Wilderness Retreat Information
Gibb River Road
The great outback 4WD adventure.
Gorge country is found along the rugged Gibb River Road. Really a 600km long 'bush track' that connects the remote Kimberley cattle stations to Derby and Kununurra.
It allows superb
access to the virtually untouched natural assets of the Kimberley
wilderness.
Some of the most spectacular
scenery on earth, and so recently 'discovered' that it is yet to be made
into national parks.
The road cuts through King Leopold Range, Philips Range, Barnett Range, Gibb Range, Mosquito Hills, Pentecost Range and Cockburn Range.
Wildlife concentrates around the densely vegetated waterholes, creeks and many gorges, including fresh water crocodiles, green tree snakes, tortoises and archer fish.
However you 'do' the Gibb River Road - it is an outback 4WD adventure never to be forgotten.
Kununurra
Springboard to the Kimberleys.
The east Kimberley town of Kununurra, is the springboard into various natural and man made wonders.
The Bungle Bungles and Purnululu National Park; man made Lake Argyle at 9.5 times the size of Sydney Harbour; Ord River; Ord River Irrigation Scheme; Lake Kununurra.
