Australia's capital cities
Adelaide. Sometimes refereed to as the cultural capital of Australia and well known as the City of Churches, Adelaide has much to offer the first time and repeat travelers. If you are staying in the city there is a myriad of activities available - try your luck at the Casino; attend one of the food, wine or music festivals.
The Brisbane CBD is dominated by an exciting skyline mixing the old and new - the Treasury Building and Parliament House are some of the finest examples of Italian Renaissance.
Sydney is the Olympic City and a whole lot more. As you would expect from a city that ranks highly on the international travel stage, Sydney has much to offer visitors.
The focal point is the Harbor - a sparkling blue expanse of water dotted with ferries, pleasure craft and the famous 18 foot sailing skiffs.
You cannot help but relax in Perth, it is that kind of place. Boarded by the Indian Ocean to the West and built on the beautiful Swan River, it boasts an excellent location. It is a relatively young city, yet it is sophisticated and worldly with excellent restaurants, international standard resort hotels, majestic golf courses, sailing clubs and unspoilt beaches to appeal to most people.
Melbourne
Hobart is enchantingly caught between the heritage of the 19th century and the modernity of today. First settled in the mid 1800's, the city has retained much of the early architecture dominated by narrow streets, pubs and small cottages.
Darwin is a thriving modern city on the edge of a magnificent harbor, is at the northern end of the Territory¹s lifeline - the Stuart Highway, fondly known as the "Track". There is a great variety of places to see and explore, with a good range of accommodation available. South is the unique Australian Outback, East is the famous Kakadu National Park, West is the magnificent Kimberley's.
Beyond being the political heart of Australia, Canberra has many national institutions and landmarks which appeal to people of all ages - the National Library, Parliament House, National Gallery of Australia, the High Court, Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian War Memorial being examples. Just 4 hours by road from Sydney, Canberra is a great base for visiting the Snowy Mountains.
